As a young teenager, I don’t have many small expenses, but there are times when I buy things that I don’t need. In the last house I lived in there was a store where I bought gum. Since the store was within walking distance I tended to go there more than I should have.
It is easy to buy something that you don’t need. There are times when it is good to get a treat for yourself, but you should always think about if it is a good idea to buy it.
Tracking Your Expenses
It is great to track your expenses. An easy way of keeping track of them is with a list. Each time you buy something you should write the date of when you bought the item, what it is, and how much it coasted. Then you will be able to see how much you spend, and costs that you could cut. With this, you will be able to get into better habits. Remember that it is still ok for some days to let yourself get something that you don’t really need as a reward, but don’t be irresponsible with your money.
If you have a job you should track your income. Then you will have a clear idea of how much you should spend.
