The Silliest Thing I Have Ever Done

When I was 6 years old I wanted to make my own money. I knew that other kids raked leaves and mowed lawns. Since it was fall I chose to rake leaves. And so I got my little blue rake and went and raked my neighbour’s curb. Picture this… at the time I almost never wore a shirt outside. I never wore a shirt until I was eight years old!

So there was me on the side of the road raking their curb with no shirt. And when I was done, do you know what I did? I went to there house and knocked on their door… and… asked them for money. Yes, I know I did a job that nobody wanted done and then asked for someone to pay me for it. And do you know what? It was worth it! I only did it at two houses and the first house did not give me money but they said “If you are expecting to get money, always ask the person first if they want the job done”. That was good advice, but the next house gave me $2, and when you are six that is better than any advice in the world.

After that day my Mom told everyone that story and laughed and laughed about it and I felt embarrassed, but I think it was all worth it!

The moral of this story is “If you want money when you are young, go ahead and be an entrepreneur and do stuff no one asked you to do, because you can get two bucks!”
